Iron Fertilisation of the OceansAs atmospheric greenhouse gas levels rise, many are concerned about the approaching crisis of 'climate change' and 'global warming'. One proposal to ameliorate this is the addition of iron to the oceans. The objective is to promote phytoplankton growth, with intent to reducing atmospheric carbon dioxide. This site investigates the background and geological record, the theory, some experiments to date, and asks some of the many questions. This site is a long version of an Open Univerity project which was completed in October 2003. The background science is still valid, but the latest research has probably advanced in this time.
